Four new Huawei phones with dual cameras spotted on TENAA

Four new Huawei phones have been spotted on TENAA.
All of them seem to sport full frame displays, dual rear cameras, and rear mounted fingerprint sensors.
Of the 4 models listed, only one of them sports the Honor brand.

New Huawei smartphones have been spotted on the Chinese telecommunications certification site, TENAA, indicating an impending launch. The Huawei phones go by the model numbers FLA-TL10, FLA-AL00, LDN-TL00, and the LND-TL30. While not much information is evident going by the model numbers, the LND-TL30 sports an Honor branding indicating this could be the Honor 7C.

The TENAA listing shows pictures of the front and back of the devices. All phones seem to feature full-frame 18:9 displays, dual rear-cameras and rear mounted fingerprint sensors. The FLA-TL10, FLA-AL00, and the LDN-TL00 sport the Huawei branding on the front. The FLA series seem to feature dual front cameras and the overall design is reminiscent of the Nova series phones such as the Nova 2S. The LDN-TL00 is shown in a blue polycarbonate body but has only a single-lens selfie shooter.
The LND-TL30 is purported to be the Honor 7C. It features dual front and rear cameras and the body appears to be made of metal with upper and lower plastic inserts. The Honor 7C looks to be a minor variant of the Honor 7X and is likely to sport a similar spec sheet.

Apart from the model numbers and pictures of the phones, nothing much is known about the handsets themselves. We will know more details when the devices pass certification, but it looks like Huawei could be creating competition within its own product range as there’s not much differentiation between the phones at this point. But the strategy does appear to pay off, especially with Chinese OEMs, and that could be the reason for their continued success in price-sensitive Asian markets.

Google made it easier to book hotels and flights through search results

Google

In addition to flights, you can now book hotels through Google Search.
You can filter flight and hotel search results by price, date, and more.
The new features and layout are now rolling out.

Google announced today it has changed the way its hotel and flight search works in an effort to make trip planning simpler on mobile devices.
The update introduces a new layout with four tabs: Explore, Flights, Hotels, and Your Trips. The Explore tab provides additional information on your destination, while Your Trips presents a list of past and future trips.
Results in Your Trips are private, so only you can see that information. You can email your trip reservations to others from the tab and make edits to your reservations, even if you are offline.
As before, the Flights tab lets you book flights and filter them by date and price. The Hotels tab lets you book hotels and break things down by price, date, occupancy, and other factors. Hotels also displays photos and lets you swipe between them without leaving the list of results.
Editor’s PickGoogle+ Android app getting “brand new version” in coming days

A “brand new version” of the Google+ Android app will be here in the next few days, according to Google+ engineering manager Leo Deegan. Deegan discussed the new version in a post yesterday (via Android …
Hotels will automatically be populated once you book a flight, with Flights also populated if you book a hotel first.
Even if you have not booked a hotel or flight, both sections are accessible when you search destinations in Google Flights. This is part of Google’s broader discovery feature that suggests destinations and getaway trips you might be interested in.
The overarching goal might be to cater to those who plan and book trips on their smartphones. Not as many people make travel plans on their computers as they did in years past, so it makes sense to enrich the mobile experience.

Is LG pulling out of China’s smartphone market?

One report alleged that LG left China’s smartphone market.
Another report said LG reorganized its Chinese mobile division.
Regardless, it seems that LG’s smartphones are not selling well in China.

LG‘s mobile division continues to bleed money, but is the situation so dire that the company bowed out of China, one of the largest smartphone markets in the world? The answer according to one China Business reporter, is yes.
The reporter is said to have visited LG’s Beijing offices and received such information from a company representative. When pressed for further info, the representative cited an increase in competition from local brands.
Even though China’s smartphone market took a bit of a step back in 2017, competition in the region remains fierce. Huawei retained the top spot last year, while Oppo and Vivo remained in second and third, respectively. Apple pushed Xiaomi out of the fourth spot, though the latter held on to the fifth position.
LG last updated its Chinese website with 2016’s G5 SE, so there is at least some accumulated dust on the company’s Chinese smartphone business. Other reports, however, suggest isn’t pulling out of China entirely.
Editor’s PickIs LG launching a new V30 variant at MWC 2018? (Update: LG official confirms)

Original story (01/19): LG has certainly picked an interesting time to undergo a transitional period. With ailing sales and losses spiralling into the hundreds of millions, the South Korean OEM recently revealed that it is …
An LG official told ETNews that the company’s Chinese subsidiary was reorganized as part of its Korean sales division. Apparently, LG still intends to sell 5G and foldable smartphones in China, but wants to find out why it has struggled in the country’s smartphone market. To that end, LG created a smaller operation in China to identify profitable products and improve the company’s brand image in the country.
Details are scarce about who runs this entity and how long it will exist, but it seems like LG will temporarily leave China while it figures out a smarter business strategy. Seeing how the company’s mobile division posted operating losses for an eleventh straight quarter, this could be the right move.

Google’s Motion Stills app gets a fresh coat of paint and AR stickers

Google launched version 2.0 of Motion Stills, its GIF creator app.
The update includes a new interface that moves some things around, a new AR mode, and hints at Facebook integration.
Motion Stills is available for free from the Play Store.

Google‘s GIF creator app Motion Stills received its 2.0 update today, and with an overhauled interface and new AR stickers, this is not a small update.
Motion Stills now features a cleaner camera viewfinder that moves the shutter button and mode switcher to the frosted area at the bottom. Previously, that area worked as a gallery that showed your recent captures.
That gallery now sits as a thumbnail on the bottom left, while the camera switcher is on the bottom right.
Even though the Settings icon remains on the top right, the Settings screen shows a bit more information compared to before. For example, your GIF resolution and repeat shared clips information are now displayed in-line.
There is also a new AR Mode that lets you overlay your creations with one of six figures: an alien, dinosaur, planet, gingerbread man, chicken, and robot. Icons for basketball, bat, parrot, and UFO are displayed, but not yet live.
Editor’s PickGoogle fixes Android Wear lag caused by ‘OK Google’ detection

In December, the subreddit /r/AndroidWear noticed a bug with their smart wearables running Android Wear 2.0. It seems that leaving on the “OK Google” hotword detection feature created significant lag in their smartwatches. A quick …
Unfortunately, you can only use one figure at a time. If you decide that a dinosaur fits better with your GIF, you cannot have it sit alongside a chicken, for example.
Finally, Android Police‘s APK teardown revealed Facebook integration could be an update away. This would allow you to more easily launch and use Motion Stills from Facebook Messenger, though the feature is not yet live.
You can download Motion Stills at the link below.

Speaking of which, Motorola also discounted all of its Moto Mods by 25%. These include Style Shells, the Insta-Share Projector, JBL SoundBoost 2, Hasselblad True Zoom, and more.

Valkyrie: a portable speaker that is louder than a concert

Forget all those fancy features and cute designs. If what you want is the biggest, loudest, and baddest portable speaker in the market, we might have found the one. This accessory is named Valkyrie and is made by Njord Audio.
Other featured Crowdfunding projects:

LightCam: a smart light bulb that doubles as a security camera
PITTA – modular action camera can turn into a selfie drone in seconds
ButterflyVPN is a router that unlocks the internet on-the-go

From the first time you lay eyes on the Valkyrie you know it’s serious business. The thing is huge! It measures (750 x 480 x 280 mm), making the case as large as a suitcase. And just by looking at it you can tell it’s rugged. I mean, the thing looks like machine gun case, and the creators say it is as tough as it looks!

The speaker box is water, dust, and shock proof when sealed. The team is shown lighting it on fire and throwing it into the ocean. It seems to handle anything.
“The loudest, most extreme and outrageous portable speaker on the planet, no questions asked… “
Knowing we can depend on this thing not breaking is great, but we aren’t about to take it to war, so let’s dig into the sound. The speaker features a couple 12-inch woofers, a 6.5-inch mid-range driver, a bullet tweeter, and a 1,000 W amplifier.

All of this equates to  30 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range and 125 dB of sound. To compare, a concert is estimated to be as loud as 119 dB, while a thunderclap should measure in at about 122 dB.
Of course, it does have aux in/out, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. You can use this with any device and it is made to be carried around (even if uncomfortably). The 480 WH battery can last 8 – 60 hours on a single charge, too. It can recharge in just three hours, which is pretty quick for a speaker like this one.

Interested? It is not as expensive as we thought it would be. You can sign up for one by supporting the company’s Kickstarter campaign. The lowest offer is set at DKK 3,280, which is about $549 USD.
