Samsung Galaxy S9 gets 480fps mode, but you should stick to 240fps or 960fps

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus include the much-touted 960fps super slow-motion mode, Reddit users noted that the phones’ latest update introduces a new 480fps mode. However, the new mode brings with it a catch that some might find strange.
First, the good: the 480fps mode lets you record video for up to 0.4 seconds. The end result is a 12-second video at 720p resolution. The 960fps mode also records in 720p resolution, but only gives you 0.2 seconds of real-time recording and results in a six-second video.
The catch is that the 480fps mode replaces 960fps in manual mode, with the latter now relegated to automatic mode. This is bad news for those that got the hang of 960fps recording, even with its relatively shorter recording time.
Alternatively, others might celebrate the move since the 480fps mode offers twice as much time to get the shot right.
Keep in mind that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus also features a regular 240fps slow-motion mode that records in 1080p resolution. This mode is much more common and gives you even more recording time, though the slow-motion will not look as dramatic.
In related news, the update also includes the July security patch and makes AR Emojis more stable. The update is available for unlocked models, though the carrier versions should get it soon enough.
