T-Mobile “testing” Oreo for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, full rollout incoming

T-Mobile is now testing Android Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus—the last step before the update’s full deployment. The carrier recently updated its Software Update page (via GSMArena) to show that the Samsung flagships were at this stage of development, where T-Mobile will optimize the software before rolling it out to its handsets.
Samsung tied up the Galaxy S8 Oreo beta program only a week ago after a public beta period, indicating that the final version of the software was almost ready.

Generally, Android update rollouts for Unlocked devices occur before the carrier rollouts, but with the Galaxy S8’s predecessor, the Galaxy S7, that wasn’t the case. The Unlocked S7 received Android Nougat last May after carriers began deploying it in February. It’s possible that the same could happen this year with the Galaxy S8 and Oreo.
T-Mobile was actually the first US carrier to roll out the S7 Nougat update, doing so on February 17, 2017. If that’s any indication, Oreo could hit the S8 within the next couple of weeks.
